Anticipatory Guide-
Create an anticipatory guide for lessons that are heavy on student listening. This guide can be formatted a variety of different ways. One way to do this is by creating a list of true or false questions that student answers as you are speaking. This will allow students to have two methods of language input (listening and reading), while reflecting on the content presented. A different way this could be formatted is by creating sentence frames for the student to fill in while they are listening to content. This will also allow students to have two methods of language input, while reflecting on the content presented.

January Information Nugget:
ELPA21 Information

Each year between February and March each of our ESOL students take what is called the ELPA21 assessment. ELPA
stands for English Language Proficiency Assessment. This assessment evaluates students in the four domains of language: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. In each domain, the student is scored on a 1-5 scale. A one indicates
that the student has very little English, and a five indicates proficiency. A student who scores fours and fives on each domain, they will no longer receive ESOL services. When this happens, they are monitored by the ESOL teacher for at least two years. Our students will begin taking these assessments in about three weeks, so wish them luck!
