Self-Reflection

Just like we so frequently tell our students, self-reflection is VERY important to growth. Recently, in a book I am reading, I came across this self assessment that breaks down scaffolds for English Learners. I love that the assessment has so many high quality scaffolds all in one place to let the teacher truly reflect on common practices in their classroom.

Exponential Growth of EL students ​

You will see a table that outlines the exponential growth of population of EL students in the US, Iowa, and Ankeny. You'll notice the eye-popping percent change in Ankeny. In just the last 4 years, we have seen a 121.3% increase in our EL student population. Remember this crazy huge number when you are feeling overwhelmed with how to best serve our students!
